On 13 and 14 September 2023, a conference of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) on clinical supervision/case supervision in the context of the Syrian crisis was held in Turkey:

"GIZ's MHPSS - Supervision Conference Definition of case supervision and its applications in the context of the Syrian crisis SHIMALL Hotel Gaziantep, Turkey 13th -14th of Sep 2023 Conference".

As the EASC board had an important meeting at the same time, Verena Nerz, EASC member from Reutlingen, took it upon herself to participate in the conference online and to represent EASC there.

The conference was designed as the conclusion of a multi-year project on supervision in the field of MHPSS (Mental Health and Psychosocial Support). 38 Syrian professionals from different health care disciplines were trained as supervisors according to the model of J. Lansen and T. Haans.

In 11 lectures, supportive supervision/clinical supervision/case supervision was defined and presented and differentiated from administrative and technical supervision. The role of the supervisor, as a facilitator of a reflection process activating the problem-solving competences of the supervisees and the group, was emphasised and distinguished from the more directive role in technical and administrative supervision.

The manual "Integrated Model for Supervision", prepared and published by the Reference Centre for Psychosocial Support (PS Centre) of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IRCF) and Trinity College Dublin, was presented, as well as the results of two studies on the effectiveness of supervision for caregivers in crisis regions.

The aims of supervision were to improve the quality of work with supervisees' clients, to prevent care/burn-out for supervisees and to develop their professional competence, which interact with each other to improve the quality of support in MHPSS contexts. Methods that can be used in case supervision were demonstrated in workshops.

In a working group, the further development of the project was discussed. The newly trained supervisors now need networking and further supervision for their own supervisory work (so-called shadow-supervision). A refresher workshop was considered, especially as the participants from Syria were not allowed to cross the border at the last training workshop and for the conference. Furthermore, an advanced curriculum on the topic of organisational supervision and coaching was suggested.

The continued support of the trained supervisors also appears to be very important because the colleagues are often not only caregivers in their professional role due to the political situation and the earthquake disaster, but can also be affected by severe losses, stressful experiences or existential threats in their personal lives.

EASC is planning to cooperate with GIZ to support colleagues in Syria.

Ve dnech 13. a 14. září 2023 se v Turecku uskutečnila konference Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) o klinické supervizi/případové supervizi v souvislosti se syrskou krizí:

"GIZ's MHPSS - Supervision Conference Definition of case supervision and its applications in the context of the Syrian crisis SHIMALL Hotel Gaziantep, Turkey 13.-14. 9. 2023 Konference".

Vzhledem k tomu, že ve stejnou dobu mělo důležité zasedání představenstvo EASC, Verena Nerz, členka EASC z Reutlingenu, se ujala účasti na konferenci online a zastupovala zde EASC.

Konference byla koncipována jako závěr víceletého projektu zaměřeného na supervizi v oblasti MHPSS (duševního zdraví a psychosociální podpory). Jako supervizoři podle modelu J. Lansena a T. Haanse bylo vyškoleno 38 syrských odborníků z různých zdravotnických oborů.

V 11 přednáškách byla definována a představena podpůrná supervize/klinická supervize/případová supervize, která byla odlišena od administrativní a technické supervize. Byla zdůrazněna role supervizora jako facilitátora procesu reflexe aktivizujícího kompetence supervizantů a skupiny k řešení problémů a odlišena od direktivnější role v technické a administrativní supervizi.

Byla představena příručka "Integrovaný model supervize", kterou připravilo a vydalo Referenční centrum pro psychosociální podporu (PS Centre) Mezinárodní federace Červeného kříže a Červeného půlměsíce (IRCF) a Trinity College Dublin, a výsledky dvou studií o účinnosti supervize pro pečovatele v krizových oblastech.

Cílem supervize bylo zlepšit kvalitu práce s klienty supervizorů, předcházet vyčerpání péče/vyhoření supervizorů a rozvíjet jejich profesní kompetence, které se vzájemně ovlivňují a zlepšují kvalitu podpory v kontextu MHPSS. Na workshopech byly předvedeny metody, které lze v případové supervizi využít.

V pracovní skupině se diskutovalo o dalším vývoji projektu. Nově vyškolení supervizoři nyní potřebují networking a další supervizi pro vlastní supervizní práci (tzv. stínovou supervizi). Uvažovalo se o opakovacím workshopu, zejména proto, že účastníkům ze Sýrie nebylo při posledním vzdělávacím workshopu a na konferenci umožněno překročit hranice. Dále byl navržen program pro pokročilé na téma organizační supervize a koučování.

Jako velmi důležitá se jeví také trvalá podpora vyškolených supervizorů, protože kolegové jsou často nejen pečovateli ve své profesní roli v důsledku politické situace a katastrofy způsobené zemětřesením, ale mohou být také postiženi závažnými ztrátami, stresujícími zážitky nebo existenčními hrozbami v osobním životě.

EASC plánuje spolupracovat s GIZ na podpoře kolegů v Sýrii.
