The charter forms the basis for the development of self-regulation in the professions of coaching, mentoring and supervision. It can be accessed in the European Union's publicly accessible database, which is jointly managed by the European Commission and the European Economic and Social Committee.
In the charter, self-regulation initiatives in Europe create a common standard for ethics and good practice in coaching, mentoring and supervision. It is intended to ensure that coaches, mentors and supervisors carry out their activities in a professional and ethical manner. It also provides professional coaching, mentoring and supervision bodies with guidelines on the acceptance of an appropriate code of ethics by their members and on their role in monitoring this charter and imposing sanctions in the event of violations.
The professional charter is also intended to inform clients of coaching, mentoring and supervision services and to promote public confidence in coaching, mentoring and supervision as processes for professional and personal development.
The professional charter reflects the mission of the professional associations to promote and ensure good practice in coaching, mentoring and supervision. As part of our work in this very field, the EASC has now become one of the European signatories.
